Doctor’s Office Interior Design and Fit-Out in Ankara
We design and build medical practices that make the most of limited floor space, reassure your patients from the very first step and don’t wear you out over the day.
Overview
A private medical practice is a space that carries the physician’s personal signature. It is often set up in a limited area, in an apartment flat or an office in a business centre; waiting, reception, examination and, where needed, a small treatment room all have to fit into the same floor space. Doctor’s office interior design is therefore a planning exercise in which every centimetre counts.
At Çayyolu Architecture & Construction, we design and fit out private practices for specialist physicians in Ankara. From our office in Konutkent, we come out for site visits from Çankaya’s business centres to the western corridor, and with 20 years of experience we adapt your existing space to the way a practice works.
Our Services
What We Focus on in Medical Practice Design
Space efficiency
Solutions that position waiting, reception and the examination room without them running into one another in a small area, and move storage onto the walls.
Privacy and sound insulation
We pay careful attention to partition walls and door details so that conversations in the examination room cannot be heard from the waiting area.
Easy-to-clean surfaces
Floor, wall and worktop materials suitable for disinfection in the examination room; warm but low-maintenance textures in the waiting area.
A layout tailored to your specialty
Layouts shaped by the different needs of specialties such as dermatology, cardiology, obstetrics and gynaecology or psychiatry.
The right lighting
A layered lighting plan that provides clear visibility during examinations and a calming atmosphere in the waiting area.
Flat conversion
When converting a flat used as a home into a medical practice, we handle the plumbing, wet area and partition changes from a single source.

A Closer Look
How Do You Design a Small Medical Practice?
In a small practice, the first decision is where each function will go. The patient entrance should look directly onto reception and the waiting area, while the examination room should be separated from the waiting area and, if possible, close to the wet area. Easy access to a patient toilet and a handwashing point is a detail noticed throughout the day but often forgotten at the planning stage.
In tight spaces, built-in cupboards, wall-mounted reception counters and multi-purpose furniture create a sense of space. Light-coloured, non-reflective surfaces make the space look larger than it is. We produce such made-to-measure pieces through bespoke furniture design, making use of corners where standard furniture won’t fit.
- A soundproof examination room out of sight of the waiting area
- Short, comfortable access to handwashing and the patient toilet
- A clutter-free layout thanks to built-in storage
- Entrances and passageways that patients with disabilities can also use comfortably

How Does the Difference Between a Practice and a Clinic Affect the Design?
A private practice is usually a simpler set-up where a single physician works. In facilities with several physicians, treatment rooms or a high density of equipment, the needs change; sterilisation, imaging and patient flow are dealt with in greater detail. If you are planning such an expansion, we describe the process on our clinic interior design page.
Whatever the facility, we carry out the planning in line with the relevant legislation and institutional requirements. We clarify any matters requiring a licence or permit together with you before work begins.

The Waiting Area: The Patient’s Minutes Before the Examination
Patients often spend the minutes before their examination feeling anxious. Comfortable seating, soft and warm lighting, a tidy reception counter and an easy-on-the-eye colour palette make that wait easier. For specialties frequently visited by families with children, we suggest a small play corner; for practices with many elderly patients, armchairs with armrests that are easy to get up from.
The reception counter is both where patients are greeted and where appointments, registration and payments are handled. Concealing the computer, printer and filing inside the counter keeps the waiting area looking calm and tidy. You can request a free site visit so that we can see your practice in person, or start the first conversation by sharing photos and measurements via WhatsApp.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can’t find the answer you are looking for? Give us a call — we will listen to your project and answer your questions right away.
0312 240 51 51How much does doctor’s office interior design cost?
The cost varies with the size of the space, its current condition, whether changes to the installations are needed and the materials and furniture chosen. The site visit is free; after seeing the space, we provide a clear, itemised quotation.
How do you design a small medical practice?
First, the positions of the waiting, reception and examination functions are settled. The space is then opened up with built-in storage, multi-purpose furniture, light-coloured surfaces and layered lighting. Particular attention is paid to sound insulation for privacy.
How long does a medical practice fit-out take?
The duration depends on the scope of the work and whether bespoke furniture needs to be made. After the site visit, we provide a work schedule broken down into stages.
Can you convert a flat into a medical practice?
Yes. We handle partition changes, wet areas, electrical work and lighting from a single source. We recommend that you clarify any official matters related to the change of use before work begins.
What kind of interior design do you recommend for a dermatology practice?
In dermatology, lighting that gives clear and accurate colour rendering, easy-to-clean surfaces and a tidy area set aside for minor procedures are important. In the waiting area, we recommend a calm, simple and reassuring atmosphere.
